Up More Than 2%

SHARE is up more than 2% after unveiling Amazon Go, a new way to shop without having to wait in line or check out with a cashier.

The free Amazon Go app allows users to enter a store, take the products they want and leave.

It said its Just Walk Out technology automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. When customers are done shopping, they can just leave the store. Shortly after, Amazon said it will charge the customer’s Amazon account and send a receipt.

Currently, the new store is only in Seattle, Wash and open to employees in its beta program. It expects to open the store to the public in early 2017.
